About Me

Hey all! My name is Jackson, and am a current senior at UIUC studying Information Sciences + Data Science. Career wise, I have a strong passion for the intersection of software engineering and data science, and hope to utilize my software engineering skills to make data science and AI tools as easy and accessible as possible.

In my freetime, I read frequently, play music, and play video games. I also enjoy learning about astronomy, space operations and exploration, and the future of spaceflight! I was fortunate enough to complete four internships at NASA doing everything from AI research to software engineering for ISS space operations. I am currently looking for full-time opportinuties after I graduate and am excited for what the future holds!

Position: Research Intern, Intelligent Systems Division

Duration: Summer 2023

  • Reinforcement Learning for Multi-Agent Pathfinding
  • Assisted in reinforcement learning and algorithmic approaches to multi-agent path-finding (MAPF) to help create an urban air traffic management solution for delivery drones. Utilized Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Docker to deploy models for training on a supercomputing cluster.

NASA Goddard Space Flight Center

Location: Greenbelt, MD. (Remote, Part-Time)

Position: Software Engineer and Data Science Intern, HEASARC

Duration: Fall, 2022. Spring, 2023

  • Spring Project: Machine Learning for Neutron Star Classification
  • Trained and tested several machine learning models using scikit-learn and TensorFlow to classify spectra from neutron stars using data from the NICER payload.
  • Fall Project: SkyView Remake
  • Designed and developed an updated version of SkyView (a search and data cataloging system for astrophysics data) that allows users to query the data based on their position in the sky using React and Flask.

NASA Marshall Space Flight Center

Location: Huntsville, AL. (Onsite, Full-Time)

Position: Software Engineer Intern, Payload Operations Integration Center

Duration: Summer, 2022

  • Flight Control Software Automation
  • Designed and developed an automation tool for automating the timeline change process to assist with timeline changes for the ISS. Worked with flight controllers to gather requirements and receive feedback on different versions of the software. Examined different flight controller console positions and identified actions that could benefit from automation.
